WHAT IS A GENERAL SURGEON?

General surgery is a medical discipline that involves performing various surgical procedures to treat a wide range of health problems and diseases. General surgeons can diagnose many types of diseases, especially those related to the abdomen and related organs.

These include even the ducts, liver, pancreas, spleen, appendix, small and large intestine, rectum and stomach. The surgeon can also treat the thoracic region, glands and hernias in the thyroid.

– Digestive system
– Abdomen and its contents
– Breast, skin and soft tissue
– Head and neck, including trauma, vascular, endocrine, congenital and oncological disorders – especially skin tumors, salivary glands, thyroid, parathyroid and oral cavity
– Vascular system, except for intra-head veins and heart
– Endocrine system including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and endocrine pancreas
– Surgical oncology, including multi-mode management coordinated with screening, surveillance, surgical assistive treatment, rehabilitation and follow-up of a cancer patient
– Comprehensive trauma management, including musculoskeletal system, hand and head injuries. Responsibility at all stages of care for the injured patient is a fundamental component of general surgery
– Full-fledged care of patients with critical surgical diseases in emergency department, intensive care unit and trauma/burn units
